John Dearstyne is an American illustrator.

"John Dearstyne currently lives in Gresham, Oregon a suburb of Portland.
He attended the Kansas City Art Institute and Indiana University receiving B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Graphic Design and Photography.
After graduating from Indiana University He taught Design, Drawing and Photography at Oregon State University. During that time his interest shifted to freelance commercial Illustration.
He left O.S.U. and set up a freelance studio in Los Angeles, California, doing illustration work for advertising agencies, magazines and the film and entertainment industries. He uses the Macintosh platform and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark Express, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash.
His work has been featured in Print Magazine, Graphis, The Society of Illustrators -L.A. and N.Y. exhibitions and has received numerous awards in those and other shows and publications. (See resume for "Client List")
Computers and the Internet have made it possible for every illustrator to be "The Neighborhood Illustrator." The issue of distance vs. time has been removed from the art directors' standpoint."
