  4. Description: Original art piece from Mick McGinty for the Sierra Online title Lionel Traintown Deluxe. The game was the winner of the Family Computer Entertainment Game of the Year and well received. This image has not been confirmed but believed to be the final painted box image. Mick began using digital art in this era releasing his first full digital cover for Monster Bass on PS1 this same year. Signs of the painting match precisely the final cover art such as the reflection in the train windows and the rocks in the background (with varying levels of green added). Subtle changes can also be noted to the image to clean up certain areas such as the attempt to remove the arm in the upper right sky or add background train detail in the lower right. The train on the front can also be seen with one of the handles on the front of the train slightly moved from the painting, yet the train reused on the back matches the handle of the painting unmoved. Another sign this was a digital change. A second cover was released for the game which shows even further changes which also appear to be done digitally including the train rerendered and light pole changed to a beam. Year: 2000 Medium: Acrylic on board Image Area: 12.75 x 15.5 IN Image Source: Original Condition: Very Good

  7. Description: Jester was a game in development by Sega and the well regarded Sega Technical Institute. STI was an all star cast of developers including Yuji Naka the original Sonic creator. They were given large budgets and allowed to work on numerous projects, some of which were cancelled in development. Mick also contributed art to another STI title Kid Chameleon. In 1993, the STI team worked on the development of Sonic 3 which was eventually split into 2 titles with Sonic and Knuckles being the second half. The studio had much tension around Jesters development as resources were constantly pulled to meet deadlines for the Sonic games and less priority was given to all other projects. By April 1994 (planned release) the game had been cancelled. The existence of final cover art infers the game may have been late in development but not much has surfaced other then some background and screenshots. Year: 1994 Medium: Acrylic on board Image Area: 19 x 20 IN including overhang from main image area Image Source: Original Condition: Good, minor board wrinkles imperfection lower left outside of the image area. 15. Yeah it is definitely interesting. To me it's so close it looks like it was scanned and final edits made digitally. It looks more like a filter applied and some small edits as opposed to a new fully digital render. But i'm by no means an expert. It was sold as being used to make the cover/ad and the final published cover having some edits done to the piece, I presume digitally.
