Takahiro Kanie is a Japanese illustrator that has illustrated numerous Super Mario and Donkey Kong images, primarily for jigsaw puzzles. He is the Chairman and founder of the Japan Illustrators Association, where a Greetings from the Chairman page includes a detailed biography of Takahiro, his career, and his motivations for establishing an association to represent Japanese illustrators. Many of his Nintendo puzzles can be seen in this Twitter thread.
Takahiro is known to have illustrated the box art for two video games: the European box art for Jaguar XJ220 for the Mega CD in 1993 and the Japan-only NeoPlanet for the Sony PlayStation in 1996.
