Kevin O’Connor is an American illustrator known for his pinball backglass artwork. Hired by Paul Faris, Kevin began working for pinball manufacturer Bally in 1978 and has continued to produce pinball artwork ever since, as recently as 2022 for Stern. Kevin has created art for Bally, Data East, Williams, Sega Pinball, and Stern. Over the course of his career, he has illustrated dozens of pinball machines, a full list of which can be seen at Pinside.
Kevin O’Connor was the Special Guest Artist for the 2021 Pintastic Pinball & Game Room Expo in Sturbridge, MA. At the multi-day event, on Saturday, November 20, Kevin sat down with Pintastic seminar director David Marston and talked about his 40+ year career as a pinball artist. Over the course of the conversation, Kevin speaks and shows pictures of many of his projects, including famous titles such as Kiss (both Bally and Stern), Strikes and Spares, Silverball Mania, Playboy and Monster Bash. The conversation, edited to include artwork shown on screen during the seminar, can be seen on YouTube here.
Pinball revolved around Chicago, and perhaps by virtue of being in the area, or through his connections to Paul Faris, in 1991, Kevin illustrated an arcade flyer for the Taito game Growl, shown below in Additional Images.
