Is it possible to add a comments section to the individual artworks?

This is something we have been toying with a number of times. We have the option of adding it, but thought let’s discuss it and see if the community wants it.

If everyone can give their input on this that will be great.

  2. Thank you 😊

I was going to make a post just to say thank you for everyone that is taking part in testing the website before our launch.
but I’ll just hijack this topic. So thank you for being part of the early testers.

    The current OVGA timeline is:

Oct 15: Press kits go out /Site info posted online
Oct 20: OVGA Soft Opening to FB group
    Nov 01: OVGA Launch

This could change but hopefully we stay on course.

Lastly a special thanks to @Sanford_USand @Bronty who have been working hard on the Artists biographies. @Coleman for his feedback and voiceover in our site Guide videos.

This project started almost 2 years ago "Nov 23 2020" and it’s exciting to finally be able to share it.

  3. In my last correspondence with Valarie, I raised the concern about the Auction appearing as a Showcase, to which she responded.

    Quote

This will either be a dedicated session for a future Signature Auction (likely January/February to ensure we have plenty of time to assemble a respectable lineup) or a standalone Signature Auction. It was scheduled as a showcase for visibility purposes only.

So that's excellent news, which also means people have more time to Consign.

  4. Tracing Paper Backing Support

I found myself being very careful "as one should" when handing, sketches that are on tracing paper.
At the same time, due to them being translucent, you don't get to fully enjoy the artwork drawn.
So I started to add a backing support that strengthened and improved the viewing of the pieces.
Hope you find this guide helpful.

    Step 1: Supplies
Transparent Photo Corners - You could get these in white, but I think the transparent ones are best.
Heavy High GSM Archival Paper Acid Free - I went for 200 GSM but anything around 100+ should be thick enough

    Supplies

Step 3: Locate tracing paper sketch

Step 4: Place sketch on the Archival paper and mark the corners

Step 5: Place Corner Stickers On

Step 6: Check to see if everything fits correctly

Step 7: Mark where the cut will be, remove artwork and cut the paper to size.
I found using a sharp blade and metal ruler worked really well.
The cut was very clean and straight.

Step 8: Inspect to see if everything is correctly aligned,
make adjustments or repeat process if cut was not neat.

Step 9: Place sketch in and enjoy the added support and clarity.

Step 10 "OPTIONAL" : This large sketch was falling out, due to it being folded in half.
The following steps will show how to remedy this.

  5. Website Rules

    1. Respect Other Members

    • No flaming - Do not seek to insult or deride other members. We have zero tolerance.
    • No baiting - Do not treat people in an unkind manner.
    • No Drama - Keep the drama to an acceptable level across the boards. If you get into a huge argument with someone, try and make sure it does not publicly spill over.
    • No Harassment: Usually this is where a member will continue to message or shadow another member despite being told to stop.

    2. Respect the Boards.

    • No Flooding: Defined as either posting more than five new threads in the same forum in a one-hour period without staff permission, bumping a load of dead topics which causes the previously active threads to drop off the first page, or posting repetitively in the same thread in a manner which ruins the previous subject of discussion.
    • No Advertising commercial sites or message boards without permission.
    • All posts are to be made in English.

    3. Respect the Staff

    • If a mod closes a thread, or tells you to quit doing something, then please listen to them. Mods are there to help control this forum, and stop it being degraded. While what they ask for may not make sense to you, it will make sense to everyone else who want what's best for the forum. If you are unhappy with a mod, then do not make a public protest thread, but PM an admin with the complaint, and we will deal with it if necessary.
    • We will NOT accept the excuse that "it's not in the rules, so I have not broken the rules". If we warn you, it is usually for very good reason. Not every infringement can be tightly put into this rulebook; we are not legal specialists... Just use common sense, and don't seek to take the piss, and you will get on fine.

    4. Banning and Warning

    • The following actions can be taken by staff depending on how badly you have infringed on the rules.
    • Official Warnings: Should be taken very seriously if you receive one. You should speak to the staff member and make sure that you do not repeat your mistake again, lest you get something more serious next time.
    • Banning: are specified at the time of being banned, and can range from 3 days, to one week, to one month, to indefinite (undetermined).
    • Permanent Banning: These are very rare. Typically, something terrible would have had to have been done to warrant this, such as a hacking/breaking attempt which devastated the boards, stalking, or various other serious illegal activities conducted over the boards.
