Fun auction although pieces above 5k were quite soft. Seems like people are short on play money. Some great deals were out there to be had.
I couldn't agree more. I have to admit that I didn't have much intention on bidding on this auction, but sorta wish I had prepared better to have some cash ready. A few of those pieces sub-$5k sold for a steal IMO. Might be better prepared for the next auction in case I see an opportunity! These are some of the ones that I thought sold for a steal.

Counting the minutes 'til this gets going! I had a few sealed games in the first lot that I wanted to watch, but this next lot will be fun to watch from start to finish IMO. I have popcorn prepared on the stovetop. Gonna get poppin' in about 25 minutes! Then this auction will get poppin'!

I have been checking back at the auction every 24-hours or so. Fun to see small shifts happening in price/followers/bidders. I have spoken to a number of collectors about what they are considering getting making a solid move at...and I must say it is so awesome how everyone's taste in art varies drastically!
The variation between high-end pieces and starter pieces in this auction are perfectly balanced. It's almost like it was planned!
I personally won't be after some of the higher-end stuff, but do see a few pieces that I feel have the possibility of falling through the cracks. The spotlight on the epic stuff might help me in the end!
I got my popcorn ready.

You did an A++ job on that Gameboy kiosk bottom cabinet. Impressive! Let's get some art on those walls!

Thank you everyone for all the help! I ended up buying the tape you recommended @Nic as I am based in Sweden. I will address the painting as soon as it arrives. Hope everyone enjoyed the back and forth conversation here as much as I did. So great that I can pick all y'alls brains for information! Thanks again!

Lot's of great insight here!
I maybe wasn't clear, but I have no intentions of touching the front side of the artwork. I am trying to gather the best way to connect the 2 pieces of paper. I will speak with my framer and see what he says too.
Thank you everyone for your help!2 -

I'll keep my eyes peeled as well!

Really appreciate all this straightforward info! Easy to read and clear to understand. I need to upgrade my current setup. Although I feel it works for now, I need to keep my eyes on the long term. Thanks for the help!

@Bronty I am sure you had already looked into this, but I wanted to let you know that I gave it my fair shot. Small world actually! My mom sold my childhood home in June 2022. She moved from San Rafael, California to South Carolina. The moving company has packed and stored a bunch of her belongings at their warehouse until she buys a new home on the east coast. I'm sure you don't follow where this story is going...... but...... the moving company's warehouse is the old Broderbund building in San Rafael. I had my mom inquire about that painting to the owners of the moving company, but they assured us that the building was completely stripped and empty when they moved into the building. Just wanted to let you know! It was a dead end, but thought I would let you know that! Good luck with your hunt!

I somehow missed that you posted here. Funny that we both wrote the phrase End Game.
Signage was a great chapter, but art is next level.

Hey everyone,
The niche of Original Video Game Art is fairly new to me. I realize some of you guys have been collecting OVGA for many moons. I have played video games since childhood, but had never even considered that there were artists responsible for the cover art. I got my mind blown (not so long ago) when that realization came to me. Props to those of you that had this realization years back!
I have been a part of the video game collecting world for about 5 years now. My collecting focus has changed numerous times.
I have never really had a video game collection. Sure, I own the games that I grew up with and I have bought a few here and there through the years, but collecting games have never really interested me.
I have always gone after the stuff that wasn't available for sale to the public: employee clothing, employee awards, Merchandising jackets, NWC 1990 promotional items, prototypes, and promotional signage.
You can see why this art niche is so interesting to me. This has to be the "end game" of collecting. Although my pockets aren't packed with cash, I do know how to hunt. Wish me luck!
Thanks again @Ibrahim_UK for urging me to dip my toes and buy a piece of art or 2. I'm not going back. This is it.
Looking forward to see more of all of your art! Keep it comin'!

Love that video! Very cool. I think it will help people connect with the idea that this stuff is in fact artwork and not a digital image!

I wanna be the very best
That no one ever was
To imagine them is my real test
To paint them is my 'causeI will travel across that land
Searching far and wide
Teach myself to understand
The power that's insideI'm an artist, gotta draw 'em all, it's you and me
I know it's my destiny
I'm an artist, oh, I'm my own best friend
In a world I must pretend.I'm an artist, gotta draw 'em all, a heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you, I'm an artist
I gotta draw 'em all
I gotta Draw em' all
I'm an artist.2 -
Love the tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I have a few things I could try this on. Will report back with an update in the coming weeks!

I did decide on a color combination that I hadn't thought, but the framer pointed out could be nice! I will have my first framed piece of art (this Golden Axe piece) back sometime next week! Looking forward to share. I will state the obvious and say that there is some, but not too much GOLD.

Thanks @Sanford_US! As I am nearing my FIRST frame job... I am starting to pay attention to the matting options and different color palletes that exist. Looking forward to see what I come up with!

I totally hear what you are saying. I am struggling on what colors to use on another piece of mine. Sometimes simpler is better. We will see what I do in the end, but appreciate your honest opinion/attempt at it!
