Description: In 2020, Frank painted this "recreation" commission of his 1988 box art for Capcom's Bionic Commando for the NES. At the time of the commission, the whereabouts of the actual original box art were unknown, with Frank having sold it decades prior, likely at a comic convention or other similar show. To the surprise of many, the original painting for Bionic Commando (1988) surfaced at Heritage Auctions and was sold in January 2023; the auction achieved a final price of $45,600. The auction was won by none other than the same individual who had commissioned the 2020 recreation. No longer needing the recreation as a placeholder, this 2020 painting was also consigned to Heritage and I was lucky enough to win it in late 2023!
