Red Baron II PC Game Unused Box Art

Description: Described by Heritage Auctions as "James Dietz Red Baron II Computer Game Original Alternate Cover Art (Sierra On-Line, 1997)." This action-packed painting featuring World War I aircraft is from an unused design for the 1997 Sierra On-Line computer game, Red Baron II. It was created by noted military artist James Dietz. He made two pieces for the game: one for the cover, and this one for other purposes.

The standard cover art has more typical blue skies, but the yellow/orange on this alternate piece really stands out. It was produced in oil on canvas, unmounted, and has an image area of 28" × 21". The edges of the canvas have wear, but the art is in excellent condition overall.

Year: 1997
Medium: Oil on canvas
Image Area: 28” x 21”
Condition: Excellent

Gifted to my father, Terry Chamberlain, on 9/29/2023 for his love of aviation, aviation art, and helping me grow to be the person I am today.

Yeah!  I love the painting, but it just seemed like an amazing gift to someone who has bought aviation prints his whole life, but never an original.  I hope he enjoys it as much as I have in the short time owning it.
