Description: This is a full size, completely hand-done color comprehensive ("comp") for The Adventures of Rad Gravity for the NES. Color prelims like this were sometimes a step in-between the approval of the box art layout/design and the final painting. Whether for art director/client approval or just as part of the artist’s work process, these mock-ups let an artist work out the colors for a painting before committing brush to board. As artists weren't paid to produce these (i.e. they got one total sum for delivering the final product), color comps were often quick and crudely done or consisted of color added to photocopied lines. For an artist to take this much care and effort for a prelim was really quite uncommon! Signed by the artist Pete McDonnell at lower right, outside the image area.
